MNGA president, Mike Dority, was recently interviewed on NPR talking about Thousand Cankers Disease. He discusses the spread of the disease and the looming threat for Michigan’s large population of black walnut trees (Juglans nigra). Dority also mentions the search for black walnut and Carpathian walnut hybrids which exhibit varying degrees of resistance and pose potential in breeding TCD resistant strains.
